The 12 Zodiac Signs, The Planets & The Houses

I’m a little (lot) bit of an “Astrology Guru.” As a young teen, maybe 11/12 years old, I became obsessed with my sign (November Scorpio) and wanted to know more and more about what a Scorpio is and so on. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know, so I kept learning and learning. Now, at 29 years old, I know so much not only about my sign but all 12 signs along with their traits. I have also dug deep, so I know all about natal charts, houses, planet signs and etc. It’s fun stuff for me, and no I’m not one of those zodiac people who judge you by your sun sign.

However, I’ve always wanted to drop some knowledge on Astrology. A lot of sites have incorrect information, leaving people with incorrect information and although I intend on doing nothing about those sites being wrong, I want to share what I know to be true from my years and years of research and experience with all signs in various forms and shapes of life.

Modality

Cardinal: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn | the leaders; these signs are known as the “starters” of the zodiac. active, ambitious and ideal people, they like to be first in everything they do, even if they do not follow through or finish their projects.

Fixed: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius | the stabilizers; with proper preparation, these signs pick up where the cardinal signs left off. determined, purposeful, stubborn, yet stable and grounded. theres no lack of confidence in a fixed individual.

Mutable: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces | adapters of the zodiac; a little bit older and wiser, more flexible and comfortable with change. the editors, these signs will perfect what the cardinal signs started and fixed signs made come to life. they have a very critical eye.

Cardinal signs start each of our seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter). Fixed signs fall in the middle, and Mutable signs end each. Also note each sign and its sister are in the same modality (ex: Virgo & Pisces).

The 12 houses and their purposes; same order as the zodiac signs. Ex: 8th House is Scorpio

The only way for you to fully understand the houses, and know your houses, is for you to know your natal chart. You will need your exact birth time for accuracy, but basically your natal chart will break down to you your planet signs which also breaks down your houses, based on the stars above on the day, at the time, in the state/country you were born. You can also get an app called “Co-Star” which is just as accurate as the website I included. Here is an example:

Makai Parker Natal Chart

This is my Natal Chart

As you can see I am a Scorpio Sun, Rising (Ascendant) & Pluto in the 1st house. Your first house can be compared to your rising sign, for it is the first impression people get of you. With regards to your first house, it represents your appearance, how you come off to people, your overall personality and so forth. Because my first house is Scorpio, I distinguish myself through my self-image and I transform my self-image often.

Houses can be very difficult to explain and understand unless you understand your natal chart first. The Co-Star app is really good at explaining your natal chart in the simplest way. You can also add friends, family or even lovers on the app and view your true compatibility.

Here’s another example:

My moon is Aries, and it is in my 6th house, meaning my emotional self is independent, energetic and enthusiastic. Because it’s in my 6th house, I tend to find security and safety through routine. This is something I can agree with, because when it comes to matters of the heart, I need consistency. If not, I will need reassurance. Now, you might not agree with some of what you read which is perfectly normal. I don’t agree with everything it says, but I will say 9 times out of 10, the message is accurate.

When you also fully understand each sign, or at least the signs in your natal chart, it’ll be even easier to understand. I can look at my chart and understand exactly what it refers to when it says “Libra Jupiter in House 11” solely because I know the basic traits of a Libra (peaceful, humorous, social) and I know Jupiter is the planet of idealism and philosophy, in the 11th house, I’m successful through social status, big or small, and through hopes and wishes. Sometimes I feel as if its reading me. I feel seen, but I find it to be okay overall. Knowing about yourself, like your true self, aloud sometimes is good. It can help you grow in the end.

That about wraps it up for now. I’m thinking about doing more articles on astrology. My next post will be on the moon and its phases + other details.
